These are Portugal Laurel instant hedging troughs that are 150-180cm in height. They are in 90 litre troughs which are 1 metre long by 30cm wide and 30cm deep. These troughs are reduced as they are not up to our usual top quality. They are all healthy plants but are in need of planting out.  The troughs may have gone a bit pale due to lack of feed or may not be as dense and bushy as our top quality troughs. They will all green up and shoot back in the spring.

We deliver on pallet courier throughout the UK (except Northern Ireland). Prices include VAT but not the cost of delivery. or delivery charges, see our Delivery page or add the plants to your basket and the delivery charge will be calculated as you go through the checkout process.

To plant, we recommend digging a trench 60cm (2ft) wide by 30cm deep. Dig over the soil in the bottom of the trench so any excess water or rain can drain away (especially in the winter). Digging over the bottom of the trench also means the soil is not compacted and the roots of the hedging can get into the soil easily. This will mean they can pick up nutrients and water more easily and, as a result, will grow more quickly.  Take the instant hedge out of the trough bag (or cut it off) and carefully drop the instant hedge into the trench. Fill in with soil around the hedging troughs and firm with your heel to make sure they are firmly anchored. Water your hedging troughs once planted and keep watered regularly for the first season.

We recommend planting 1 trough per metre (3’3″) for an instant hedge.  We recommend planting the trough as a whole. We do not recommend splitting the individual plants in the trough and planting them separately.

Please note: we measure height from the top of the compost in the trough to the top of the hedge. Heights quoted will be the height of the plants on delivery. The eventual height of the hedge will depend on pruning.
