Delivery Charges

The cost of delivery is dependent on the number and size of plants you choose and your location. Most of the plants we deliver are heavy and bulky so they are usually delivered in wooden pallet crates (approx 1.2m x 1.2m or 4ft x 4ft). We try to keep the cost of our plants as low as possible and then add on what it costs us to pack up and deliver the plants to your location.

In general, we can get the following into one pallet crate:
125 Leylandii or Laurel in 3 litre pots (2-3ft tall) or
80 Leylandii in 5 litre pots or
40 x 5ft Green Leylandii in 10 litre pots or
30 x 6ft Green Leylandii in 10 litre pots or
16 x 7ft Green Leylandii in 10 or 15 litre pots or
13 x 6ft Laurel in one pallet crate.

Standard Delivery charges for one pallet crate of plants to the different zones are approximately as follows:
Zone 1 = £49
Zone 2 = £54
Zone 3a = £81
Zone 3b = £75
Zone 4 = £65
Zone 5 = £84
Zone 6 = POA

All above are based on 2-3 working day delivery. Pallet Express delivery can be chosen for an extra charge (see below).

To calculate your exact delivery cost please add the items you would like to buy to your basket, then enter your postcode into the box on the Basket/Shopping Cart page and click “Get a Quote”. Delivery charge will automatically be calculated.

Delivery Date

You can specify the delivery date which is convenient for you by choosing it on the calendar on our when placing an order. We use couriers who are tried and tested for reliability and in the vast majority of cases, the deliveries are made on the correct date. Very occasionally, however, and due to recent problem with lack of drivers, the couriers are unable to deliver on the date specified so it is always worth getting your plants delivered a couple of days before you are due to plant them to make sure they with you. We do not accept any liability for deliveries that do not turn up on the estimated delivery date.

If you choose Pallet Express, a delivery day is usually available 1 working day from date of order if you order before 10.30am and within 2 working days if you order after 10.30am.

If you choose Standard Delivery (which costs approximately £10 less), a delivery day is usually available 2 working days from date of order if you order before 10.30am and 3 working days if you order after 10.30am.

Exceptions to these rules may apply to orders placed late in the week (Thursday or Friday) as sometimes we don’t think it’s good for your plants to be in transit over the weekend, especially when the weather is hot, in which case, we may dispatch on a Monday for Tuesday delivery (Express Delivery) and Wednesday delivery (Standard Pallet Delivery).

Delivery Times

Timed delivery can be booked by telephoning us on 01460 281265. There is an extra charge for a timed delivery (see below). However, we can get them to “book-in” the delivery, free of charge, by phoning you beforehand to let you know a delivery time but the couriers do need an extra day for this. If you would like this option, please tick the “Do you have any special instructions/Add delivery instructions” box on the “Shipping Method” page (see above) and type in “Please book in delivery”. Please remember to leave a minimum of 3 working days from ordering to delivery date for Pallet Express and 4 working days from ordering to delivery date for Pallet Economy or the courier will not be able to do this.

Alternatively, the charges are as follows:

Timed delivery (2 hour slot) = £25 extra
Morning/Afternoon delivery = £20 extra
Saturday delivery = £60 extra

Please ring 01460 281265 to place the order if you would like a timed, morning/afternoon or Saturday delivery as we need to take the additional payment over the phone.

Important Delivery Instructions

If the delivery is by Standard or Express Delivery, your plants will usually be delivered on a lorry in pallet crates up to 1.2m x 1.2m (4ft x 4ft) wide. The courier will leave the plants in the pallet crate and it will not be able to take it away. Please ensure you are able to dispose of the pallet crate before ordering.

Your plants will come by lorry. You must ensure that a rigid lorry can get down the road and can park adjacent to your property. If you have any doubts or questions, please ring 01460 281265.

It is better if someone is available to sign for the delivery. If no-one is available to sign for the plants, please note this when ordering. The courier must be able to unload the pallet (see notes 4 & 5 below) or they may be returned to the depot and there is an additional charge to have them re-delivered. If you have any questions, please ring 01460 281265.

We will do our very best to deliver on your chosen day of delivery between the hours of 9am and 6pm and the vast majority of deliveries are made on the specified date. We use couriers that are tried and tested for reliability, however, the delivery day is an estimate and very occasionally, due to circumstances beyond our control, our couriers are unable to deliver on the date specified. If this occurs, deliveries will usually be made the following day. It is best to arrange for your plants to be delivered a day or two before they are going to be planted, especially if you are employing gardeners, as we can accept no liability for the delay of goods. Express deliveries always get priority over Standard deliveries if there are hold-ups in the courier network. If you would like the courier to ring and book in the delivery, please note this under Special Instructions Section and allow four working days from date of order to time of delivery. The courier will contact you to book in the delivery so please supply a telephone number that you can be reached on during business hours. Alternatively, special delivery notes can be added to the order, e.g. “Please ring 30 mins before arrival” and the courier will do their best to follow them.

If the ground is steep or rough (e.g. soil, gravel or hardcore), please arrange for someone to help the driver unload the plants by hand. Orders delivered by Standard or Express Delivery will be sent in a wooden pallet crate by a Pallet Courier. The courier will drop the wooden crate with a pedestrian pallet truck at the kerb or just into your drive if you have one. The pallet truck needs a smooth flat surface to move on, such as concrete or tarmac. If your ground is steep or rough, please arrange for someone to help the driver unload the plants by hand or they may be returned to the depot.s not
