Product Description

Find the right hedge for you

Portugal Laurel hedging plants 80-100cm tall in 5 litre pots.

5 litre pots are approx 23cm wide by 18cm deep. We recommend a minimum hole size of 35cm wide (square) by 20cm deep.

We do not include the pot’s height in the measurement. So when you plant our hedging, it will be within the height range specified. Break up the ground well and we recommend adding Greenshutters 12 month-controlled release feed.  For more detailed information please see our How to Plant guide or give us a call to discuss, we are all able to help you.

Planting distances: Use our Hedge Spacing Calculator to decide how many plants you need. We recommend planting the 180-200cm Laurel plants between 60-100cm apart. (2-3 feet). The closer you plant, the quicker the hedge will establish into a thick, dense screen.

Delivery is from our nursery in Somerset. We can ship nationwide via pallet courier, or you can collect from us – we are open 7 days a week. Delivery within 1-5 working days.

You can choose the day we deliver to you when you get to the checkout section of the website.

Please note: Individual plants will be sent that will grow together to form a dense hedge.

See our Frequently Asked Questions Page for further information.

Why should you plant a Portugal Laurel hedge?

Portugal (or Portuguese) laurel hedges are very hardy and can tolerate a wide range of conditions, including most soils (as long as they are not waterlogged for long periods), and full sun or shade.

They are fast-growing and can quickly provide a dense screen or windbreak.

The evergreen foliage provides year-round privacy and can help to reduce noise and air pollution.

Portuguese laurel hedges are attractive, with dark green leaves contrasting with red stems in winter, and can add a touch of elegance to any garden. They can be trimmed regularly into a formal hedge or be left to form a more informal screen.

They are relatively low-maintenance and only require occasional pruning.

The flowers and berries of Portuguese laurel are attractive to birds and other wildlife.
